ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Clients brief for this interior design project on a Creek in Gold Coast was to improve outdated common areas, brighten up the space, make it light, calming and minimalistic. There weren't a lot of major reconstruction for one exception - the skylight. We were very lucky to be able to incorporate skylight above the dining area as that corner was quite dark and uninviting. Living room, pantry and kitchen's renocation was confined to new finishes, built-ins and lights - but sometimes that's all you need to bring your home to the next level!

KITCHEN INTERIOR DESIGN

All common areas of the house are located at the back of the house facing absolutely stunning views of the creek. The aesthetic of the rear of the home serves as a neutral framing to the waterfront backyard, your eyes are drawn out to the floor-to-ceiling windows. So to create airy backdrop we carried through consistency of materiality creating this cohesive bright feeling throughout. In the kitchen we have light Harwood flooring that runs through all areas, then there's travertine stone on the island and the backsplash, light wood veneer on the cabinetry, then there's brass accents and fluted timber on the island to bring some interest. Island here serving as a focal point and doubles as a buffet station during weekend gatherings. As well for that purpose the rest of the kitchen consists of clean lines and clear surfaces. There's an arched pocket door to the pantry to hide it away, breakfast bar as well is hidden behind the pocket doors and to really keep the visual clutter away we've opted for finger-pulls instead of any hardware.

During an apartment or a house renovation there are areas like kitchen or bathroom that would really benefit from a professional eye so if you're not ready for the full house interior design definitely think about those most important rooms.

LIVING ROOM INTERIOR DESIGN

Not only through materiality but also through consistency of curves the general feeling of calmness and relaxation is achieved in the space. Every curved corner whether in the walls or in joinery or in a piece of furniture really helps to soften the space. Once you enter the house you step into a sort of a breezeway through the entire house, you pass the bedrooms on both sides and enter the common areas. On your right there's a spacious dining with a long bench seating and a skylight entered above the table. From here to the left is a living room with a fireplace situated within a long stone custom cabinetry with open shelving for some decor moments and a sliding panel to conceal the TV.
